Burn DVD with VLC Media Player

VLC media player is a functional utility that can read a lot of video and audio formats. Besides playing the files, it can rip DVDs, open Blu-Ray disks, etc. Making a DVD is an easy task with VLC. There are several simple steps to be taken to achieve the task.

  • Click Media, then Open Disc.
  • Select DVD and check "No disc menus".
  • Choose your DVD drive and select the full length movie Title.
  • As a test, select Play from the drop-down menu.
  • Select Stream from the drop-down next to play.
  • Click Next.
  • Optionally de-select Display Locally.
  • With "New Destination" set to File, click Add.
  • Browse to open dialog and type in the name of the file you want to save as.
  • Select the Profile for Encapsulation Method, such as MP4.
  • Click Stream.
  • Wait.
  • Your DVD is ready.
  • Use an ISO burning tool to burn your ripped DVD.
